I think that idea of Abraham being described as in heaven was because at the time there was the idea of a section of Sheol (namely the idea of righteous Jews in Sheol being in a separate place of Sheol, away from the unrighteous) being lifted up to heaven. That special place in Sheol was thought of as Paradise by some Jews in the 1st century CE.

New York Times article on first release of NWT

it was tucked inside a nwt volume i purchased on ebay.
i thought it interesting and made a pdf of it.

There was also a 1970 revision of the 1961 revision of the NWT. There was also a 1981 revision of the main scripture text of the 1971 revision.

Where did Christendom go? They HATED our bible in 1950...just read...
by oompa inthe articles on the jw-cd which only go back to 1950 where we fought back the attacks.
i do not understand why they did not continue to blast our bible since it is such a fraud....down south in usa churches teach members how to refute dubs at their door.....but why did they stop blasting the nwt?
it is sooooooo easy to show a dub there is a bunch of made up crap in it.....i may have to help my local chruches.....if you need more info about the horrible fraud parts, feel free to pm me.........................oompa......even elders dont know

Over the years I have come across multiple copies (some even brand new) of the NWT in the books section of local thrift stores; they are thus sold in some secondhand stores.
There are many very good qualities of the NWT, but my view is influenced by me having been raised by JW parents, with me as a child reading and studying from the 1961 and 1970 revisions of the NWT (and one study book quoting from some volumes of the 1950s NWT). At age 8 I enrolled in the theocratic ministry school and began giving Bible readings to the congregation. I later became baptized as a JW in the 1980s while a teenager and I later became a regular pioneer and a ministerial servant. [But I am now an ex-JW and an atheist.]
When I first picked up a KJV Bible and an ASV Bible (ones published by the WT which I ordered in the 1990s from the literature counter when I was the literature servant of my congregation) I found some of their archaic wording difficult to understand. Likewise, years earlier while in high school I found it extremely hard to understand the 'early modern English' language used in Shakespeare's plays. Previously (except maybe on very rare occasions) I had never read thee, thou, thine, didst, and other archaic words, and I had difficulty in figuring out precisely what they meant. As a result I greatly preferred the contemporary language of the NWT.

There were at least three editions of the Christian Greek Scriptures prior to 1952. There was a first edition of 1950, a Second Edition in 1950, and the Revised Edition of 1951.
In 1963 there was under one cover a compilation edition consisting of the 1951 Christian Greek Scriptures and the five Hebrew volumes, with revisions to some of the dates in the "Table of the Books of the Bible", and the exclusions of numerous maps and charts. Perhaps it also included other changes.
In 1985 there was a revision of the Kingdom Interlinear, incorporating the scripture text of the 1984 Christian Greek Scriptures, and having revisions to the Foreword of the earlier Kingdom Interlinear.

compound complex, I think the phrase 'New World" in the title of the translation, has to do with the WT expectation (in the 1950s) of the great nearness of a paradise Earth in which righteous predominates, during a 1,000 year period of Christ reigning. Think of the NT verses about 'a New Heavens and a New Earth'.

Olin Moyle's letter to Judge Rutherford

he became disillusioned with the culture at the headquarters and penned the following letter of resignation.
rutherford replied with an outrageous article in the watchtower provoking moyle to sue.

Hey blondie, earlier today (before I read your post) I also read the Questions from Readers segment in the WT 3/15/51 p.191 about religion. What an amazing coincidence! I came across it because I was looking for content in the 1950 and 1951 Watchtowers which might mention any pre-1951 NWT Edition changes to the original 1950 NWT Christian Greek Scriptures.

I notice that the 1950 and 1951 Christian Greek Scriptures have a cross reference to Luke 12:42. In both editions Luke 12:42 says "Who really is a faithful steward, a discreet one, whom his master will appoint over his body of attendants to keep giving them their measure of food supplies at the proper time?" Note that is says "a faithful" instead of 'the faithful". Perhaps objavitelj and the governing body member (Gerrit Lösch) have the pre-1961 NWT translation of Luke 12:42 crossed in their minds with that of Matthew 24:45. In contrast the NWT of 1961 (as as well as of 1970, 1971, 1981, and 1984) at Luke 12:42 says "the faithful steward, the discreet one".

The WT sometimes make changes in the wording of some of their publications, without stating that any changes were made. Such has been demonstrated. If darkspilver's and dropoffyourkeylee's copy of the First Edition is in fact not the first printing (or at least the original edition) of the First Edition, then it is possible that the first printing of the First Edition did not have 'the' in the verse at Matt 24:45.
